Location: Remote (must be able to work hours overlapping with Eastern Time)

Joyner Homes is hiring a Part-Time Human Resource Specialist to support core HR functions in a remote capacity. This role will serve as an important point of contact for employees and leadership, handling onboarding and offboarding, payroll coordination, benefits administration support, HR documentation, and day-to-day employee questions. This is a great opportunity for an organized and trustworthy HR professional who enjoys keeping processes moving and supporting a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Onboard new employees and coordinate setup tasks
- Offboard departing employees and ensure proper closeout steps are completed
- Process bi-weekly payroll and verify time entry accuracy
- Coordinate with third-party providers for payroll, retirement enrollment, and health insurance enrollment
- Field employee questions regarding HR-related matters
- Process wage increases and bonus requests as needed
- Assist with recruiting support, such as interview scheduling and responding to inquiries
- Maintain job descriptions, employee handbook/manual, and other HR documentation
- Schedule 90-day reviews and annual review follow-ups
- Support confidential employee and administrative matters with discretion and professionalism
Qualifications
- Previous HR, payroll, people operations, or administrative support experience required
- Strong English communication skills, written and verbal
- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information
- Strong organization and follow-through
- Comfortable coordinating with third-party payroll and benefits providers
- Detail-oriented and process-driven
- Able to work independently in a remote setting
- Comfortable supporting employees across onboarding, payroll, benefits, and general HR questions
- Availability that overlaps reasonably with Eastern Time business hours preferred
Pay and Benefits
- Part-time, independent contractor (1099)
- Pay: $8 to $10 USD per hour, based on experience
- This role does not include employee benefits.
